В древности Желтый Образец Предков, 214 как часть его сущностной природы,215 начинал с любви к надежности216; он превратил себя217 в образцовый образ и обратился лицом к четырем направлениям21*, чтобы дополнить220 свое единое сердце-ум.

Протянув руку из центра во все стороны, он проверил то, что было перед ним, он проверил то, что было позади него, он проверил то, что было слева от него, он проверил то, что было справа. Он действовал в соответствии со своей позицией и проводил свои консультации, и, по этой причине, он смог стать образцом для мира предков.

Желтый император заявил: “Я получил мандат с Небес, установил свое положение на Земле и приобрел свою репутацию от Человека.224

Только я, единственный человек … затем сравнялся с Небом, затем установил королей и Санготигов, основал государства и установил их лордов и их трех благородных министров.225

Я считаю дни, считаю месяцы и вычисляю годы, чтобы соответствовать движениям солнца и Луны.

[Я] следую (?)227 широте и изобилию Земли; Я классифицирован с великим сиянием Небес.228

Of old, the Yellow Ancestral Model,²¹⁴ as part of his essential nature,²¹⁵ began by loving trustworthiness²¹⁶; he made²¹⁷ himself²¹⁸ into an exem­plary image and faced the four directions²¹* to supplement²²⁰ his single heart-mind. Reaching out from the center to all directions, he con­sulted²²¹ what was in front of him, he consulted what was behind him, he consulted what was to his left, he consulted what was to his right. He acted on his position and carried out his consultations,²²² and, for this reason, he was able to be the ancestral model for the world.

The Yellow Emperor stated,²²³“I received the mandate from Heaven, established my position on Earth and gained my reputation from Man.²²⁴ Only I, the one man . . . then match Heaven, then establish kings and the Sangotig, establish states and set up their lords and their three noble ministers.²²⁵

I number the days, reckon the months, and compute the years in order to match the movements of the sun and moon.²²⁶

[I] follow (?)²²⁷ the breadth and abundance of Earth; I am classified with the great brightness of Heaven.²²⁸ 1 am in awe of Heaven, love²²* Earth, and am intimate with [the people].²³⁰ . . . those who lack the mandate by grasping emptiness and good faith.²³¹1 am in awe of Heaven, love [Earth], and love²³² the people. I establish those in possession of the mandate²³³ by grasping emptiness and good faith. I love the people and the people are not lost. I love Earth, and the Earth is not neglected. I love the people . . . die. My position is not. . . If I were able to treat my intimates intimately and promote the worthy, my success would be complete.”
